Repurpose: Assignment Two

This second assignment of the Gateway course was to re-discover a piece of work you had previously completed and repurpose it so that it successfully reached a new audience. Initally I had chosen to re-work a piece I had written freshman year, but eventually found great desire in repurposing an essay I had written in English 325. This assignment reflected a personal passion of mine, as well as the opportunity to expand my ability in a new form of writing.

This assignment had the purpose of connecting with as many young women as possible, and by means of doing so, helping them through the, often times, difficult first years of college.  I provided humor when appropriate, true anecdotes from past when necessary, and advice for any and all to take as they see fit.

I wanted to lend a helping hand without the over-arching theme that I was placing myself in a position of complete knowledge of the situation at hand - becuase I certainly do not believe that is the case.

The final revision was fairly similar to the first draft.  I included additional personal stories as well as questions for the readers to think about as they read through the piece. After lengthy discussions with fellow students, I have discovered that despite the advice one may give to others - at the end of the day most just want to be asked how they are feeling, or how they view the situation, and so I did just that.

I truly enjoyed writing this piece, I hope you enjoy reading it.
